Resilience Coaching

Resilience Coaching is something that we are all concerned with. It's a fact that some of us just get on better with others and that some of us get on worse with others. Sometimes we have to wait until someone comes along who really understands us before we are able to say, "I do." Even then, we sometimes wonder if the other person is going to be understanding and will not just brush us off without even giving us the chance to say, "Explain yourself please." So what is Resilience Coaching?

I was asked by someone to comment on Resilience Coaching and their belief that it's helpful in certain circumstances. She explained that she'd heard it before and knew that some of the clients she'd had seemed surprised at how well they seemed to cope, but didn't necessarily see it as a cure all or immediate answer. They had a support system though, including their family and friends and the coach, who may not have been there for them through the difficult times.

I agreed with her comments but added that I've also seen some very talented people who seem to cope much better after having had a support system or who get bored with their support system almost as soon as they quit using it. Perhaps it's just a matter of the right support system. I know lots of people who've struggled with addiction and come out successfully while others have struggled and come nowhere. It's important to have both a strong support system and a support system that need to be strong in order to succeed.

It seems to me that you may need some sort of "system" when it comes to dealing with issues like addiction and abuse. This is something that can't be pushed aside or forgotten because it is part of the problem. You may need a "system" that can run with you and be with you through the good times and the bad times and hopefully, during the entire rough period. When we rely too much on the people around us, we may become isolated and lost.

What I've found helpful is to create some sort of "safe space". A place where there is no judgment, criticism, judgment calls or shame. A place in which you are allowed to heal, to learn and to grow. A place where you can rest, where you aren't living in fear but instead, living in hope and confidence that you will make it through the rough times.

It may feel scary at first but once you start creating these safe zones in your life you will feel much better about yourself and what you are doing. When you begin to feel better about yourself, this also leads to an increase in your desire to create these safe zones. If you are using a support system that focuses on you and supports you, this will increase the likelihood that you will want to create more spaces and zones in your life. By creating spaces for yourself and encouraging others to do the same you can increase your own personal growth, as well as that of those around you. This can help you feel empowered and have a sense of control in your life.

There is a growing body of research that is showing a strong connection between health and resilience. Resilience affects your cognitive, emotional and physical skills. The brain uses these skills when it needs to think and deal with threats. When you work on building your resilience you can take control of your life and improve the quality of it. When you have an advantage like this, it can be used to help others and yourself as well.

Resilience Coaching can be very beneficial and you may be surprised by just how positive effects it can have on your life. It can also help you to achieve goals that were previously out of reach. You may feel a new energy that helps you to be more assertive and focused. If you are ready to take your life back, resilience coaching can help you get on the path to becoming stronger and more powerful.
