I tried to download your brushes and some others on this site without success. I am in the middle of just browsing. I make a lot of brushes myself and i enjoy doing them, so far i think i have made over 200 brushes far too many to load into photoshop. Yours sincerely Mr Anthony Cotton

I have downloaded these brushes and they glow just great in PS CS2? But…you only seem to color the glows one color per document. How did you color multiple glows on one picture and have them each a seperate color on your preview pic? I have been struggling on how to use a brush and get different parts of it different colors as well? THANKS for the help!!

Wow, these are beautiful. I’m so impressed with these brushes!!!

I have photoshop cs3 and how I got them to show up was. I pulled up the brushes in search, went to load brushes, when the box popped up, I dragged the glow brushes to the load brushes box, clicked on it in the load brushes box and clicked load. It showed up on my brushes box and they were beautiful!!!

Thanks so much!!!!

I’m no new user to Photoshop so I am stunned that you have created brushes that look as good as this. Fabulous work. We shouldn’t be able to download this sort of quality for free. Even if you ebay at $0.99 for a full set of brushes?

Andreas Dantz said about 1 month ago at 07:48AM

Geoff West said about 1 month ago at 11:08PM

Ah, I see what you’re talking about. I think we were both talking about two different things. Using your method with the blending modes creates a more subtle glow effect. I was going for something a little more intense with just the one layer.

hawksmont said about 1 month ago at 08:28PM

Of course it can be colorized :D but to get colors other than white you have to:
1. Open hue/saturation (ctrl+U) on layer with the brush.
2. check ‘colorize’
3. Slide light to the left (darken)
4. Increase saturation (slide to the right)
5. Change hue to the colour you like.

I use that very often so I’m sure it works.

To achive glow effect you just have to have white brush beneath the colour brush and blending mode to color or overlay

Geoff West said about 1 month ago at 07:19PM

A white brush can’t be colorized by just painting it onto a regular layer. The three ways I found that work are: 1) Hue/Saturation adj layer, or 2) Layer>New Layer> Change mode to screen, click fill with screen neutral color black, or 3) painting with a specific color, then using Hue/Saturation to change it to another color.

hawksmont said about 1 month ago at 03:34PM

@Geoff West – have you checked the ‘colorize’ box in hue/saturation? and you should also slide the light a little to the left in hue saturation. I hope that’s the case.

Limarea said about 1 month ago at 01:13PM

Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you so much =)

Geoff West said about 1 month ago at 08:52AM

I followed that tutorial to the letter and nothing happened. Painted with white, tried Hue/Saturation, did not turn colors. The only way I found that works is to use Hue/Saturation when the background is selected. Or an Adj Layer (but it will automatically turn off if I try to clip it to the layer with the brushes). Any other suggestions?

strawburst5994 said about 1 month ago at 11:39PM

These brushes are beautiful! I’m getting all kinds of ideas for pictures by just looking at them! ^^ Do you mind if I use them?

hawksmont said 2 months ago at 05:32AM

This is an archive file, Emily. So you have to unpack the .abr file from it first. Then it should work fine.

Emily said 2 months ago at 02:27AM

Hey im kind of new at Photoshop CS3 and these brushes are wonderful! But when i download it and want to open it in PS i go to load brushes; but its not there?

its in like a diferent file that i cant reach or semething .. any help?

hawksmont said 2 months ago at 06:46PM

Oh, I forgot about the quick tutorial to this one, so here it is:

Quick tutorial:If you want to achieve the effect on the preview use a black background and white paint for the brush. Use a glow brush on a new layer (black layer is beneath). Duplicate the layer with the brush and set the blending mode for this new layer on ‘Overlay’ or ‘Color’ (Overlay works better for me). Select this last layer and open Hue/Saturation window (ctrl+U, command+U), check the colorize option an then move all sliders as you want to :) (Note: if you have a white layer, and you do :) , slide down the ‘light’ slider to see the colours). If you think the colour of your glow is to light you can duplicate that coloured layer as many times as you need to. I duplicated the red glow layer three times :)
