This action works better after doing some blemish removal. It will even out skin tones, lighten creases and wrinkles. This will not do all the work for you, but at least 90%. After you run the action remove the parts on the layer mask that are meant to be sharp. (i.e. lips,eyes,hair and some creases) Ellipsis

    Please help, I got the action installed into my Actions, opened a photo of my daughter, but cannot run action. When I move curser to the actions panel, it won't let me click 'play'. Just show the circle with a line through it indicating I can't. First time I've installed an action, and this sounds like such a great time saver! Thanks for sharing, and hopefully someone can help me. Thanks!!!!

    I recommend reducing opacity a bit tho when you are done, as the results sometimes can look a bit barbie/plastic. ;)

    Don't use it alone, but combine it with other techniques.

    As a Photoshop/retouching professional I approve of this Action (I have actually already made actions myself that does exactly the same). Most so-called "skin smoothing" actions out there just destroys the skin by blurring it instead of being useful.
    .
    For those who wonder what this action does, it creates a "band stop" filter that removes all the details in a certain frequency range.
    In less fancy words, it keeps the finest detail/pores on the skin intact, while blurring away the medium size details.
    .
    The action creates a Smart Object so you can fully adjust it. The Gaussian Blur filter determines the radius of the fine details you want to retain, and the High Pass filter tells the max size of features you want to remove.
    .
    A mask is needed to limit the filter to the surface of the skin that it should affect. Tip: It works great for smoothing fabric as well.

    install the file into your actions folder in presets in the photoshop folder. Then go to actions panel press play, at the end there is instructions on what to erase.
